Add the required amount of powder using the enclosed scoop to cooled, boiled water and shake until the powder is completely dissolved. Make sure that all bottles, teats and utensils have been cleaned by using an approved steriliser or by boiling in water for five minutes. You must continue to wash and sterilise all feeding equipment until baby is at least 12 months old. When baby is older, thoroughly washing and rinsing is enough. It is safer to prepare each bottle individually for each feed if possible. When preparing formula, follow the instructions on the packet exactly. Use only level measures and the exact volume of water. Never add more powder or less water than directed as this could make your baby very ill, and never add anything else into the formula.

Formula should be warmed gradually by placing the bottle in a container of hot water. It is best not to put the bottle of formula in a microwave as it can easily overheat or heat unevenly. If you have to microwave the formula only warm it, shake it and let it sit for 2–3 minutes. Shake again before testing temperature is right for baby. Before feeding baby, always make sure the temperature of the formula is at body temperature by testing it on the inside of your wrist. It should feel just warm.

Additional advice - Karilac recommends parents wipe the baby's teeth and gums clean with a soft wet washcloth after feeding. Begin brushing your child's teeth with children's toothpaste when his or her teeth come in, floss the teeth and have regular dental checkups — the first checkup should be at one year of age.
